An ethnic nose can have many different characteristics unique to one’s ethnic background. An ethnic nose includes but is not limited to the African American nose, Hispanic nose, Asian nose and Middle Eastern nose. Each of these ethnicities bring a range of distinct features to the ethnic nose, such as round nostrils, a broad base, a flat dorsum, a low radix as well as short and thin alar cartilages which can result in acute nasal labial angle and limited nasal tip projection. The goal of this surgery is to modify or improve the nose while maintaining one’s ethnic background. The following may be altered to obtain desired results; alar base, tip definition, tip projection, pyriform area, dorsum, nasal pyramid, alveolar ridges and nasolabial angle.
